Model Walls with Levels, Base/Top Constraints, and Offsets
Walls driven by level constraints and offsets instead of loose heights.
- Switch to the Floor Plan where you want to start (e.g.
Level 0). - On the Architecture tab, click Wall → Wall: Architectural.
- In the options bar / Properties:
- Base Constraint = the Level where the wall starts (e.g.
Level 0). - Base Offset = vertical offset from that Level (e.g.
0,500 mm, etc.). - Top Constraint = the Level where the wall ends (e.g.
Level 1,Level 2). - Top Offset = adjustment above or below the top Level (positive or negative).
- Base Constraint = the Level where the wall starts (e.g.
- Draw the wall in plan view using lines/rectangles or Pick Lines.
- Review in 3D view:
- Confirm one wall starts exactly at the Level (offset 0).
- Confirm any wall with Base Offset sits above the Level.
- To adjust heights:
- Change Top Constraint / Top Offset in Properties.
- Or drag the top of the wall in an Elevation view.
- When Level elevations change:
- Revit automatically adjusts the wall top/bottom according to the constraints and offsets you set.
Tips
- Avoid making one continuous wall from ground to top floor; instead:
- Split walls per Level so that different construction types and details can be applied per storey.
- This also simplifies clash detection and local editing.
