Importing DWG / CAD Context Correctly
Bring DWG/CAD context in at the right position, scale and visibility.
- Clean geometry first:
- Export only closed polylines (no hatches).
- In Rhino: use DupBorder to extract perimeter lines from hatches.
- In Revit, go to Insert > Import CAD.
- Ensure the import units are correct.
- After import, use Architecture > Floor:
- Choose Pick Lines
- Select each closed polyline to convert it into a Revit floor (roads, sidewalks, plots).
- Assign different Floor Types so you can control surface graphics independently.
Important: If nothing appears after import, check:
- Correct view (Top view only)
- Scale differences
- Geometry located very far from Revit origin
- DWG layers turned off in Visibility/Graphics > Imported Categories
